Browser Support

Q: What browsers are supported?

A: Here is a list:

* Note: most mobile browsers do not support webcams. This means the photo should be taken with the phone's camera app and then uploaded through the main upload form.

Q: I'm recieving an alert notifying me that my browser is not supported, what should I do?

A: Download, install, and use a browser from the list above.

Q: Where can I get my hands on a supported browser?

A: The list above is made of links.

Q: Why is Internet Explorer not on that list?

A: Due to limited HTML5 support Internet Explorer is not supported. Newer versions may work, but they will never be supported. It's strongly advised that you use a browser from the list above.

Q: Why is Safari not on that list?

A: While Safari should technically work(it shares the same web engine as Chrome), it does not support a JavaScript feature implemented with HTML5 called 'NavigatorUserMedia.getUserMedia()'. This means you will have to rely on the Flash fall back. Flash can be buggy, and is not recommended when there is an HTML5 alternative. It is recommended that you use a supported browser from the list above.

Q: When I try to take a photo with my browser, it tells me that I need flash. What should I do?

A: You have a few options:

  • Use HTML5 instead of flash, by using an up to date browser from the list above. (Recommended)
  • Download and install flash by clicking here

Q: Certain parts of the page are not displaying correctly, what's wrong?

A: This is known to happen with older versions of Internet Explorer. Please use a supported browser from the list above.

Miscellaneous Support

Q: Where do I pick up my ID card?

A: You can pick it up from Public Safety on your campus.

Q: I've attended Sage before and I would like to change my photo, can I do this?

A: Yes, please visit public safety on your campus and ask to take a new photo. Please note that in some cases there may be a $15.00 charge for a new ID card.

Q: After submitting my photo the status message says that it is pending approval. What's going on?

A: Once your photo is submitted, it is reviewed by a Sage staff member. If the photo is appropriate, it will be approved and you will be notified via email. If your photo is deemed inappropriate, you will be notified via email so you can submit a more appropriate photo.

Q: The ID Manager website says its undergoing maintenance, what's going on?

A: Every once in a while this website will need to be offline to maintain its reliability and to keep it up to date. If you see that message, please wait a few hours and try again.

Q: I can't log in, what should I do?

A: Make sure your password is correct. If you still can't log in, you can reset your password here.

Camera/Photo Support

The next three questions share the same answer.

  • Q: I was told that my image was too large, what should I do?

A: Use PhotoShop or an alternative from this KB article to edit the image.

Q: My laptop has a webcam, can I use it?

A: Yes, log in and click the button that says: Use your webcam

Q: I have a picture that I've already taken, can I use that?

A: Yes, log in and click the button that says: Select image to upload

Q: I'd like to use my smart phone to take the photo, can I?

A: Yes. Take the photo using your phone's camera app, then open your phone's web browser and proceed to upload like you would on a computer.

Q: What image formats are supported?

A: Only JPEGS(jpeg/jpg) are supported.

Q: How big should my image be?

A: No larger than 2MB.

Administrator/Approver Support

Q: A Student/Staff member wants a new photo, what do I do?

A: Find the user in ID manager using their Sage ID number or with their Sage username(use the search box). Then deny their current photo. Then go to the denied tab and delete the photo. Then the requester will be able to submit a new photo.

Q: A Student/Staff member has submitted a photo and it is approved, but it does not show up in Diamond II and/or Colleague, what should I do?

A: Find the Student/Staff member using the search box and their Sage ID or username. Then deny the current photo. Then navigate to the denied tab and re-approve the photo. This should place it in Diamond II and/or Colleague.
